Kidron Bethel Village Occupational/Physical Therapy
North Newton, KS
Kidron Bethel Village, part of the Bluestem Communities, provides a comprehensive range of senior living care in South Central Kansas. This project focused on two main components: a significant renovation of the healthcare residential services and an expansion of the facility. The renovation increased the bed capacity from 60 to 65. The enhanced healthcare services area now features new dining facilities and a completely redesigned central kitchen. The expansion includes a new entryway to the independent dining area, which is now open to the public. A new chapel was also added and can seat 200 people for worship and performance settings. The chapel’s acoustic design incorporates panels with artwork from a former art professor at Bethel College, who is also a resident. Additionally, two multiuse meeting rooms were added to the facility. These rooms serve as safe spaces for residents during inclement weather and provide venues for family reunions and social gatherings. Bethel College’s School of Nursing also utilizes these meeting spaces for practical training in senior living care. The project also included the integration of a central supply room and improvements to the courtyards in the original south wing of the facility. To support residents with memory care needs, a looping corridor was designed with tactile and interactive stimuli.
The construction was planned to be executed in phases, allowing residents to continue living in their homes throughout the nearly two-year process. Over time, every private residential room and restroom in the facility will be updated
