Changing needs of the faculty and students spurred Pittsburg State University to seek out renovations for the Garfield Weede Building. An old weight room was given new life for as a lecture room for the university football team with dividers for the offense and defense to be separated. The corridors and entry way received facelifts with university graphics throughout. 42,000 square feet of renovations were completed on the locker room, pool, lecture room, corridors and entry area. The 3,300 square foot renovation included 180 customized seats filling the lecture room and showcasing Pitt State pride with gorilla and university themed graphics. In addition, the entire building was re-clad with a completely new contemporary metal panel system.
