Facility Master Plan

Wichita, KS

Facing declining enrollment and a growing backlog of deferred maintenance in their aging buildings, the Wichita Public School district hired the team of Alloy Architecture and Cooperative Strategies to develop a long-range facility plan. Combining a data driven approach with extensive community engagement, we developed a 20-year plan for the district’s 100+ buildings. The plan identified $2 billion of projects that would update their aging facilities and provide improved learning environments. The recommended first step of the plan includes seven replacement buildings, two new buildings, two reproposed buildings, and one major addition. Alloy worked closely with district staff to develop seven model school building types, which will serve as the basis for the proposed projects.
