A new school should do more than accommodate students—it should create an environment where they can learn, connect, and grow.

The new Valley Park Elementary School in Valley Center, Kansas provides 80,172 sqft of flexible learning space designed to support a growing student population. Modular furniture and a variety of meeting, breakout, and open learning spaces allow students and staff to shift between focused and collaborative activities.

Safety and security were central to the design while natural light, outdoor views, nature-inspired elements, and varied outdoor learning spaces create a welcoming environment that supports student well-being. Biophilic design and wayfinding concepts further enhance the student and staff experience. Each classroom wing features its own color and open learning design theme. To reinforce a sense of community and identity, Valley Center USD colors are used throughout the building to foster school pride.

Together, these design strategies create an elementary school that is flexible, secure, connected to its surroundings, and designed to support the district’s students and community for years to come.
